Can i refrigerate gumpaste

I guess just sticking wire in the top of the cake is really not that big of a deal I think it just takes me a long time to arrange decorations in a way that satifies me I am too picky!!! If you will look in my profile I recently did a chocolate cake with singing animals on it. The music notes in the background of the cake are fondant from push molds on florist wire. This whole cake animals, wires, everything, was put in the fridge overnight until the next morning.

This cake was very heavy and I have this belief may it be true or not that even if the cake doesn't require refrigeration, sometimes it seems to really seal things up and solidify the cake. The cake, decorations, fondant, everything was fine. Fondant decorations can get soft in the fridge but it was my thought that this was only when they were in something air-tight tupperware etc.

Now, I didn't have any problems with this cake or these decorations. It's very simple and easy to use especially if you've never worked with gumpaste before, or if you simply want to make life easier! I make up a whole batch and use it when I need it. It keeps a very long time! I love your cake!!! Did you have to mix gum-tex into your fondant when you molded your animals??? I use satin ice fondant and notice it is really soft for molding decorations without them drooping.

I have purchased some floral wire from Michael's Thanks Traci! Those animals were my 3rd attempt at the little boogers! I also had to use toothpicks inside them for stability. The wire I used for the notes was 22 gauge from Michaels. It's pretty thick but those notes were heavy! I didn't want them falling over or anything. If I was doing something dainty I would probably use thinner wire, it would give more of the illusion of them floating?!

Good luck!!! One layer I would like to do large edible pearls for a neat border!!! I am worried the condensation might mess up the pearl dust finish. Thanks for all your help!!!!

This is going to be a big cake and hope to get some business from this one!!!! Now with the pearls as a border I would wait until the next morning.

Allow yourself enough time but just do them in the morning. I would be afraid of the dust as well. Like we talked about before, I HATE waiting until the last minute to do something, or adding something on site.

I have had too many last minute problems come up! Marzipan is an almond and sugar paste used to ice cakes and model characters. Marzipan is a mixture of almond paste, powdered sugar and a moistening agent such as water, corn syrup fondant or egg whites. All the ingredients are mixed until they product the consistency of dough. Place fondant pieces on a cookie sheet lined with parchment or waxed paper, then set the sheet in front of a stationary fan.

It'll still take a few hours up to overnight to dry your fondant pieces, but the overall time will be shorter. If your kitchen is hot or humid or your cake has fillings that need to be refrigerated, store the cake in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. Wrap the cake in plastic wrap and place it in a corrugated cardboard box.

Tape the box shut to keep out moisture. Like poured fondant, rolled fondant is made with sugar, water and corn syrup. Instead of being poured, rolled fondant is rolled out into sheets that can be colored and used to decorate cakes.

Help Painting On Gumpaste. For example, I use vodka—the alcohol evaporates, leaving the color—very quickly. Most fondant does not taste that great and is too sweet for most adults. There is some fondant that is supposed to taste better i.

Fondarific , but it is considerably more expensive, and since most people peel it off anyway we don't use it. Yes, fodant can taste really good.

We suggest that you use Neon Purple fondant to color your gum paste and fondant; it will also help if you add a pinch of Neon Pink fondant as well. You will have less fading than you will if you color gum paste and fondant using Icing Color. Keep your cake or flowers covered as much as possible before serving and avoid placing it in direct sunlight.

You can also flavor rolled fondant using Wilton Extracts and Flavorings. It is best to avoid using a filled Dusting Pouch when working with darker shades of fondant or gum paste. We recommend spreading a thin film of solid vegetable shortening on the Roll-N-Cut Mat when rolling out fondant or gum paste. If you need to use the Dusting Pouch, gently slide it over the surface rather than tapping it on the surface. I have a problem using my Ribbon Cutter Embosser tool.

It either tightens up or loosens when I use it. The easiest way to solve this problem is to hold the wing nut with one hand as you push the tool along the surface of the fondant or gum paste with the other. What am I doing wrong? I can still remember the 1st fondant cake.

I had a panic attack with nightmares that the fondant had slowly slid off the buttercream. It was dismal. Thanks Erica, I sleep like a babe now. How not to ask, Can I refrigerate a fondant cake?
