I am new to Chinese Wisteria and wanted to post on here to see if anyone had advice on why my leaves are beginning to yellow. Watering habits have not changed, fertilizer regimen is steady. I read it might be soil acidity and have not checked it yet, plan on purchasing a tester tomorrow since I do not have one yet. What am I missing? Eric Schrader Chumono.

Looks like you have irrigation scale on some of the leaves. That makes me think that your water is not ideal for container growing. Have you had your water tested?

The combination of high pH 8. If you don't want to go to all the trouble of sending your water off for a test, then try letting us know more about your growing and fertilization regimen so we could make intelligent suggestions regarding what could be missing. Micro-nutrient upatake problems seems to be the most likely explanation but it's hard to tell exactily what is missing.

It will help to stimulate the roots of your wisteria and get it growing strongly again. You will find this product in any of the larger hardware stores. Seed Finder. Garden eMagazines. Be Water Smart. Examine the plant for the smaller wingless immature aphids and the gauzy-winged adults, black in color. Aphid feeding damages the plant growth, especially the new tender emerging shoots. Leaves get malformed or turn yellow from aphid infestations. Hose off aphids with a strong stream of water if there aren't too many of them.

Control heavier infestations with insecticidal soap. Some aphids transmit plant viruses as they feed. The viruses multiply in the plant tissues. Wisteria leaves display mottled yellow discolored areas as a symptom of virus infections. The virus can weaken the plant and even kill it. Once infected, the plant cannot be cured, and it is best to remove it so the virus doesn't spread.

Check with your county extension office for a confirming diagnosis.
