Based on research Ruth and her team did, they were able to identify 7 Fear Archetypes. You can take a quiz to find out which one you belong to. In case you are curious, I'm a pessimist. What I loved about this book is that it doesn't just focus on the negative parts of each archetype but also on the good traits that these fears cause us to have.
For example, as a pessimist, I'm caring and compassionate but on the negative side, I tend to see any hardship as a stop sign rather than a stepping stone. I know it sounds counterproductive but it works.
It teaches you to focus on ridding yourself of the negatives while embracing the positives. Another thing I loved is the use of personas to describe each archetype. Instead of just reading about the archetypes, they are brought to life with fictional characters which make them more relatable. The book is divided into three parts. The first part explains the seven fear archetypes, the second part teaches you how you can overcome your fears with courage and the third part gives you practical actions you can carry out to stop your fears from holding you back.

I was constantly living my life in a trap of procrastination brought on by perfectionism. This trap kept me back from doing so many things in life and in business. I was always second guessing or just putting things off because I was paralyzed by this fear. This fear kept me from moving forward and making changes. It kept me from holding back my gifts that I knew I had.
I've tried, for years, to break free from this trap but no matter what?
